Acid Reflux is common symptom in adults as well as children. Acid reflux is when the contents of the stomach begin to back-up/ regurgitate into the esophagus/throat.  This might  lead to more serious things such as throat cancer. Various factors attribute to acid reflux including foods/drinks, antibiotics, stress, and the opening of the upper stomach (lower esophageal sphincter).  In the World Journal of Gastroenterolgy  in May 14, 2007, a preliminary study showed that neck issues can cause stomach problems.

“The mechanism of neck-stomach syndrome is that when the sympathetic
nerve is irritated by nerve roots, degenerated disc and facet joints disorders due to osteophytes, cervical muscle overexertion and/or injury, the irritation reaches to the brain cortex by nerve reflex and produces a higher or lower sympathetic irritability, and then results in multiple dysfunctions of the neck, upper limbs, cardiac and gastrointestinal reflexes, etc.”

This would mean that correcting neck issues can help in reducing acid reflux. To find out if we can help you with your neck problems please come in for a free consultation at no cost.
