There are times in your life when you contemplate about the overall picture more intensely. Funerals, graduations, church, or frightening experiences can lead you to these times.  One of those situations happened tonight.  I watched our head coach taken to the hospital do to heart complications, during the Freshman Ponderosa and Oak Ridge Football game.  Our coach, Chic Bist seems to be doing all right as he rests in the hospital. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends. I usually talk about health issues on this blog, but instead I would like to talk about Chic.  I played for him like hundreds before me and after me.  He is a big gruff man with a voice like no other, but inside he is a teddy bear with no serious bone in his body. I’ve watched him as he talks and interacts with parents and teachers and I see a man that loves his community and humanity in general. It seems whoever I talk to across El Dorado County they know Chic and love him.  From special needs kids, to students and parents they all respect and love him. I consider him friend, and hope to coach with him in future years.  But tonight I wanted to say thanks Coach for a wonderful year (7-2-1).  I have watched you inspire many. I consider you a friend and admire your selflessness when it comes to others.  I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for all those who helped tonight, and I am glad Dr. Vance, Dr. Wright, and many others were there to help someone we love so much.
